TCSA 2011 - International Program
We are excited to announce that this summer we will be sending 6 students from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean (Vancouver, British Columbia) to learn alongside Canadian string players at an intensive camp called the Thrive City String Boot Camp (TCSBC). In order to send these 6 young musicians, we need to raise $6,000 ($1,000 per student), which will cover travel, camp fees, activities, and room & board. We are well on our way but respectfully request your help. Please support this exciting new venture by giving a tax-deductable donation.
Why contribute?
- Your contribution helps us equip students with tools that can create positive future opportunities. A 2007 Music National Service Initiative study found that music education has been shown to increase school attendance, raise SAT scores and lead to greater income over time.
- Your contribution helps us to provide students, who have a desire to excel on their instruments but may be limited due to a lack of resources, with a chance to receive intense, expert instruction.
- Your contribution helps us support Baltimore's outreach music programs (i.e. Enterprise Community Partners, New Song Academy, TWIGS, OrchKids). Music students without summer instruction often lose some of the skills aquired during the academic year. After attending TCSA, students will return to their music programs with an improved ability, thus elevating the level of the program.
- Your contribution helps the students build social skills. Through the study of chamber music, social skills are practiced by encouraging students to communicate clearly and effectively in a group setting. Working as a team to accomplish a common goal is a positive skill that will follow them through life.
